Along with the PAGE flyer, there was also a Young Authors' Project flyer (on yellow paper) sent home with your student. The Young Authors' Project is a great way for your child to express himself/herself through writing. All the students in AIG are very talented writers, and we thought this would be a great opportunity for your child. The theme this year is "The Treasures of North Carolina". The entry must be original and 300 words or less. The entry may be a poem or prose (fiction or non-fiction). The due date is November 18. If your child is interested, they should contact either Ms. DeCresie or Ms. Lanier. We are willing to help and push your child to the best of their abilities! Parents:
Yesterday, you student received a flyer about the PAGE group in Pitt County. This flyer contains facts about the group and meeting dates. The meeting dates and times have been added to the calendar. We highly encourage you to attend to help support AIG in Pitt County. Your child is also encouraged to come. The first meeting is next Tuesday, September 27 from 7-8 in the CME Media Center. It will be a Welcome Back Popcorn and Game Night. Family membership is $10 for the whole year. We hope to see you there! Parents:
Ms. DeCresie and Ms. Lanier have created a new behavior management plan for the AIG classroom. Each student has a name card and assigned seats. On the back of each name card is the date. If a student calls out, talks while the teacher is talking, or behaves inappropriately, then he/she will receive a tally on the back of their card. If he/she receives three tallies before Friday, then his/her parents will be notified of the behavior. Then the following week, the student starts over with a blank slate. Due to several class discussions, group activities, and assignments, students are encouraged to talk, but to do so appropriately. We want to ensure that AIG is still a fun and exciting classroom, but student behavior must reflect those expecations of the teacher. Thank you! This week we will:
Learn about Elizabeth I and the Tudor family tree. Match famous people in history to their pictures and description. Research a famous person in history to learn how conflict influenced their life. ****Don't forget, Wednesday, September 21 is an early release day! This week we will:
